FAQs.
-
Sex therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy that focuses on addressing sexual issues. Sex therapy does not involve physical or sexual contact between clients and therapists.
Certified Sex Therapists are licensed therapists who undergo additional specialized training, supervision, and continuing education in human sexuality and sex therapy techniques.
-
People come to sex therapy for many different reasons. Some are looking to address specific concerns, such as sexual functioning difficulties, navigating communication around intimacy, or recovering from ruptures such as infidelity. Others simply want to find a more connected, fulfilling, and easeful relationship with sex and intimacy.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from sex therapy. If you’d like to improve your relationship with sexuality, that is reason enough to reach out to a sex therapist.
-
This is a common question, and the answer depends on if your concerns are mostly personal or relational.
Individual sex therapy might be most effective if you want space to explore your own relationship to sex, including anxiety, shame, or uncertainty about desire.
Couples sex therapy can be helpful when the difficulty is happening between partners, such as desire discrepancies, communication patterns, or ruptures in trust.
The good news is - you don’t have to decide alone! We can start with an initial consultation and decide together what format feels most helpful. It’s also possible to shift between individual and couples work over time.
